Opening a gallery to showcase the wonderful contemporary art and handmade objects made by the highly skilled artisans of Scotland evolved when I retired to Blairgowrie several years ago. As a retired teacher of Art and Design and a practicing artist myself I hope to open up creative opportunities in my community. A place to learn and share. A place to gather and experience the joy of making art yourself. A gallery for local artists and artisans to showcase and sell their work. Work developed here in this beautiful land of 'Alba'...'Alba Bella'.

Tracy
Tracy is a ceramic artist whose work beautifully intertwines her love for the seaside and the enchanting world of mushrooms. Based near Arbroath. Tracy finds endless inspiration in the ever-changing tides, vibrant marine life, and the delicate forms of fungi that dot the forest floors nearby.
From an early age, Tracy was captivated by the natural world. Her childhood memories of collecting seashells along the shore and foraging for mushrooms in the woods have profoundly influenced her artistic vision. Each piece she creates reflects her desire to bring the beauty of these two realms into harmony. Tracy’s ceramics often feature organic shapes, intricate textures, and earthy glazes reminiscent of sandy beaches and lush undergrowth.
Tracy’s sculptural pieces evoke the fluidity of ocean waves and the whimsical nature of mushrooms. She employs various techniques, including hand-building and wheel-throwing, to achieve her unique aesthetic. Her pieces often incorporate natural pigments and materials, further connecting her art to the environment she cherishes.
In addition to her studio practice, Tracy is dedicated to sharing her passion with others. She holds workshops in Alba Bella Gallery where she encourages participants to explore their creativity and find inspiration in nature, just as she has. Tracy seeks to foster a deeper appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us, whether it be the soothing sounds of the sea or the intricate details of a mushroom.
Tracy’s work can be seen in Alba-Bella, she continues to grow as an artist, always seeking new ways to capture the essence of her seaside and mushroom inspirations. You can find her pieces in select Galleries or Follow her journey on social media to discover her latest creations and the stories behind them. @driftwooddesignsbytracy

Claire Moffat
_edited.jpg)
Claire is a landscape artist based in Blairgowrie. She completed an HNC in Fine Art at Orkney College before graduating with a BA (Hons) in Drawing and Painting from Edinburgh College of Art. Claire grew up in Orkney and the landscape there is the foundation of her practice. She is particularly interested in the idea of place and how familiarity with place is evoked in her work. Growing up next to the sea means it features frequently in her work as she seeks to portray the atmosphere of the ever changing weather, vast seas and skies and endless horizons.
After graduating Claire took a break from painting, concentrating on family life. Now living on the Scottish Mainland, Orkney is still a big influence in much of Claire’s work. However recently Claire has been walking in the local hills which have provided a wealth of inspiration. Although very different to Orkney, the hills still hold a familiar feeling of openness and fleeting weather conditions and I strive to create a similar sense of atmosphere in these works.
Claire works primarily in acrylic paints, building up a textured ground to work on and often uses many layers and washes to build up depth and atmosphere. Often Claire adds fine details in graphite and coloured pencil to create subtle lines and patterns which can change depending on how the light hits the work or which angle the viewer looks at it, trying to recreate the fleeting moments in the changing landscapes. Claire’s style fluctuates between literal and abstract, sometimes blurring the line between both.
When not painting Claire can be found in Alba Bella creating unique pieces of leather jewellery.
